We are a Lithuanian couple Sandra and Kęstutis, who at the moment are owned by four ferrets and live in a city of Šiauliai, which is almost in the middle of Lithuania.
Below is our ferret love story
As it is quite usual among beginners - our first ferret (Gabis) came from the pet store. Gabis was neutered when he reached maturity
and at the moment still lives with us being very proud conquer of the house. We will always be grateful to him for infect ing us with ferret madness disease and he will always remain proud about this LOL.
Our love to Gabis made us thirsty for ferret knowledge and we began to get a bit smarter. Thus our second ferret came from the breeder instead of a pet shop. It was a jill Zara. As there are no two alike ferrets, no need to say that Zara is appeared to be very different from Gabis.
Observation of different ferret personalities made our ferret madness grow in arithmetical progression. Therefore Zara joining our ferret-hood brought us to the breeding point. We have reached the point when we
have understood that keeping ferrets as pets is not enough for us. We realized that we want to take part in giving new life to the little ferrets and we do want take the responsibility for this.
We just used the word “responsibility” and it was not an accident. We are and always where very conscious in using this word.
So… When we have understood that we are ready to enter ferret breeders world, we have started from the point of asking ourselves various questions:
- what do we really want/expect from ferrets as pets
- what ferrets we would be happy to keep ourselves
- what good things we can give to ferrets, not humans, interfering into their natural reproduction process
- and other things like that.
Answers to the questions gave us an idea of how and what breeder ferrets we will be looking for. And after that the hard work of looking, searching and waiting begin… To make the story short - after more than a year of waiting, thinking and choosing two breeder jills joined the company of our beloved Gabis and Zara.
A little bit younger, but first to reach our place - Nėris. And her friend -
Sienna, who joined us in a month.
Nėris came from a good friend breeder from Lithuania. She is champagne/ sandy/ pastel (call it as you) jill that is very well tempered, very communicative and looooves people. She carries a name of one of the most famous Lithuanian female poet Salomėja Nėris.
Sienna came from Swedish breeder. She likes people, is well tempered and doesn’t bite, but prefers to keep a distance. Probably this is due to Hungarian hunters blood in her background. She is strong, very smart and playful. Her name means color that is also indicated by number Hex: #882D17 and looks like this - Sienna .
Now!!! If you are smart enough LOL, you can understand what Color Poetry Ferretry stands for
Yep, Color Poetry is about Sienna and Nėris.
Both girls make excellent pets and come from the lines that have a healthy and long living background (feel free to check pedigrees that also include some death dates and other health info and fell free to ask for more info as we do have much more than you can see in pedigrees). However they do differ a lot. As a result one can expect their kits to be different.
If you are thinking about getting a kit from our ferretry, you may want to choose between: 1) smart, cheating, overcoming any obstacle on any way, difficult to ferret proof and 2) smart, loving, not so insisting on “my way” and a bit easier ferret proofing.
Health wise so far they are the same, but we do keep our records as accurate as we can. And we promise to reveal not only the strengthnesses but also the weaknesses of our lines.
Not all the info can be easily placed on the internet, but if you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us and ask.
